What is better than one engagement session?? Two! Part of being a photographer in Indiana is learning how to work around the weather. Luckily, this weekend the weather was just rain–none of the awful ice storms…yet. Working around the weather has taught me how valuable timing is. Sometimes you might have to fit an entire session into 30 minutes or less without letting the quality be any less.

Saturday evening I met Amanda + Drew off the Monon at Brics Ice Cream. As soon as Amanda said she wanted to do an engagement session with ice cream, I knew she was going to be one of my favorite bride’s. She wanted to find a fun way to help Drew relax (and possibly enjoy getting his photos taken). Plus, they eat ice cream every night so it was perfect!

Before being a photographer, I would have felt too embarrassed to walk into a public place, move things around, and definitely draw attention. Now I don’t even blink an eye! You have to do what you have to do to get those cute candids right?? We decided to explore Broad Ripple a little bit and found the CUTEST quaint boutique–Lola Blu Boutique! At first, we fell in love with the blue exterior because it added a fun little pop to the ice cream! Then we walked around the building to find a cute little bench under a pergola with string lights…it could not have been more perfect!!

As we started to head back towards the Monon, Amanda pointed out her favorite townhouses. They were all beautiful pastels and looked like they belonged in little Italy! We decided to do a couple sunsest shots because the golden glow was sinking in. Again, it couldn’t be more perfect! We were about to head over to Holcomb Gardens on the Butler University campus when the rain decided to pop up. Sometimes you can wait it out, but the black clouds were approaching and it appeared our luck had run out. Unfortunately, we were not able to make it to Holcomb gardens that evening; Instead, we were able to make it there the next night!! You can read all about that in tomorrow’s post!
