Oh, the DuVall family! They always makes me smile! I have been photographing their family since Courtney and Austin got engaged! Courtney has always been a big sister to me and has included me throughout their family‘s journey. I’ve seen their marriage begin and continue to grow with little Brady. I held him in the hospital and have been capturing his milestones ever since. I love them all from the bottom of my heart and couldn’t be more grateful.

Even though I enjoy every session I have with them, this one in particular was one of my favorites. In honor of Mother’s Day + Father’s Day, we did a grandparent session at Ritchie Woods in Fishers, IN. We did the typical “squish together and smile right at me” but we also did the “go have fun and don’t be freaked out when I’m right behind you!”

Honestly, those are my favorites. I love to catch the natural emotion. The natural family connection. That cannot be captured by simply smiling at the camera. Don’t get me wrong, those shots are necessary as well, but I like to spend a majority of my sessions setting back and letting the kids do what they do. And trust me, they enjoy it much more that way!
